Our Steampunk Blimps have Leveled Up!
The base designs I created in 3D and turned into Papercraft Models have been completed!
You can check out the awesome pics over at Stacy's Blog, they are amazing, seeing something i created in a half-baked moment of inspiration become something tangible i can actually turn around and hold.
Stacy decided to run paper mache over the folded models, to give them structure and sturdiness for painting, and it was a great call.
Once i saw how detailed and interesting the surfaces were, i started snapping photos, with a view to projecting the real-world detail BACK onto the 3d models, to give them the effect of hand painted objects in a game engine.
I think the results are pretty cool, i integrated it into a flying combat system i am developing, to create a looping video to be shown at a Steampunk birthday party, so it's long, its FULL of errors, but as an ambient video there are a couple cool moments in there.
